Buyer Protection

When you buy on Peddler, your money is held until you confirm the item arrived as described. If something is wrong, it has not reached the seller yet, and we decide where it goes.

How it works
When you pay, your money goes to our regulated payment partner, not to the seller. The seller posts the item or meets you for collection knowing the funds are real and committed. The money is only released when you confirm receipt or collection, or when the report window passes without a problem being raised.
When to report a problem
Peddler is not an insurer. What we can do is keep the money back from the seller while a problem is sorted out. So report a problem if the order never arrived, the item is significantly not as described (wrong item, undisclosed damage, missing parts, or not genuine), or the listing turns out to be fraudulent. A change of mind, wear consistent with the listed condition, or a deal paid for outside Peddler are not things we can put right.
The report window
You have 48 hours after delivery or collection to report a problem from the order page. If you report in time, your payment stays held while the dispute is resolved. If the window passes with no report, the payment is released to the seller automatically. If a posted order never arrives at all, report it from the order page and the money stays held while we investigate.
How disputes are decided
Both sides submit evidence: photos, the listing, and the message thread. Peddler reviews everything and decides whether the payment is refunded to you, released to the seller, or split where partial fault is clear. Refunds go back by the original payment method.
Collection purchases
For in-person collection, payment is made before collection is arranged, so neither side handles cash. Inspect the item properly at handover, and only confirm collection once you are happy: confirming is what releases the payment.
Sellers are protected too
The same held payment protects the seller: funds are confirmed real before anything is posted or handed over, there is no cash at the door, and bank-transfer payments cannot be charged back the way card payments can.
